The Spirit of '98 was built in 1984 as a replica of Victorian riverboat and extensively refurbished in 1995.
The Spirit of '98 was designed to emulate an early-20th century coastal steamer complete with carved wooden cabinetry, plush floral upholstery and a Grand Salon complete with a player piano, plus a full bar with old-world charm.
The Spirit of '98 has comfortable cabins, of decent size, continue the Victorian motif, and feature TV/VCR combos and either twin, convertible twin, or double beds with firm, comfortable mattresses. Deluxe cabins have a minifridge, a seating area, and a trundle bed to accommodate a third passenger. A luxurious Owner's Suite occupies three rooms on the top deck, including a living room, with meeting area, large bathroom with whirlpool tub, king-size bed, stocked bar with refrigerator, TV/VCR, stereo, and enough windows to take in all of Alaska at one sitting.
